Phase 3: Re-Editing
I've recently stumbled upon a website that talks about the Publishing Industry, and found that the idea of submitting my manuscript to a publisher directly was more appealing than self-publishing. This doesn't mean, however, that I'll be published right away either.
Publishers take the best works they receive and push them out into the market. Sparrow will be the first book I've ever sent off professionally, which is what I've decided to do.
Once spring break is over, March 31st, I'll be gearing up Sparrow to be sent off to DAW Books, an imprint of Penguin Books. DAW publishes a lot of science fiction and fantasy novels, which Sparrow incorporates. There's werewolves, a mystical island, scientific experiments, and sword fighting. Sparrow, on Wattpad, will be available until the day I mail the manuscript to DAW. As of right now, and my schedule I've just made, I should finish the re-editing process on March 22. That's thirteen days from now, my dears. I am officially on a deadline.
It feels exhilerating, to say the least.
I must make this short, because of this deadline, and will treat you tomorrow to a special surprise!
Lots of love from the War of the Moons Headquarters,
Anastasia Beck

Phase 2: Editing
Readers,
With phase one of Sparrow complete, I'm not into the intense editing phase. This includes nitpicking, sending Sparrow off to friends to be read, and the final tweaking.
Currently at 75,229 words, I'm hoping to add another 10,000 with final touches and possible scene add-ins. When it's finished and near immaculateness, because nothing will ever truly be perfect, I'll be looking into getting it published, either self-publish through Amazon's KDP or finding a good agent to get my work out to publishers.
Other than that boring news, let me introduce myself, in case you haven't read the About Me section. My pen name is Anastasia Beck, and I'm currently, as I type this, a 17 year old writer that has been writing for the past... well, let's just say 5 or so years. It's been a rocky road, but I've never not written a single day of those years since my first idea.
My first original novel, Sparrow, was first started at the age of 14 with the original title "Moonlight Valley." The setting for this "Moonlight Valley" was a valley in the middle of some distant land, surrounded by trees and silver mines and a coliseum and just about anything else I could squeeze into it. Some of the ideas still remain from it, but looking back at the original version, I honestly am glad my writing has grown significantly since then. I only have my readers, fanfiction.net, and my aging to thank for that!
Now, Sparrow takes place in a fantasy world, completely AU, with kingdoms, government, organization, and a strong plot. Sparrow is a rich girl, turned slum rat that works her butt off trying to pay for her father's alcohol addiction. While caring for her mother that is suffering from a severe case of Alzheimer disease provoked by seeing Sparrow's grandmother murdered, she must also do her job - drag as many wolves as she can into the jails. Wolves meaning werewolves of course.
What fantasy novel would it be if it didn't have some strange characters? You can read the first version of this story, Sparrow, here. The sequel, Broken, is currently being written. I'm about three chapters in at the moment, 18,000 words, and a whole lot of chapters that need to be squeezed in between, as I write out of order. Looking back, this post seems to be out of order... Bear with me, then and make as much sense out of that as you can from a girl that's been up for 20 hours writing!
Lots of love to whoever's made it to the end,
Anastasia Beck
Disclaimer: All covers for my books are provided via Google Images and Paint, so I own nothing, really, except for whatever I do to edit the photos.
